The European Council announced that it has adopted a directive which will protect consumers from misleading green claims and other greenwashing practices, it includes banning unverified generic environmental claims such as “environmentally friendly,” or “biodegradable” and those based on emissions offsetting schemes. ESG news: Italy launches a public consultation on draft decree implementing the CSRD
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) entered into force on 5 January 2023 and Member States are required to transpose it into national laws by 6 July 2024.
