Google partners with Kairos Power for advanced nuclear energy
Google has teamed up with Kairos Power and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to bring advanced nuclear energy to its U.S. data centers. Under the deal, TVA will purchase power from Kairos Power’s Hermes 2 nuclear plant in Tennessee, which is set to begin operations in 2030 and will provide 50 megawatts of round-the-clock clean power.
Google will receive the clean energy credits from this supply to support its data centers in Tennessee and Alabama. This project marks the first step in a broader plan by Google and Kairos Power to deploy 500 megawatts of advanced nuclear capacity by 2035, aligning with Google’s push to cut data center emissions amid rising electricity demand.
