83% Asian SMEs say ESG is high priority but only 37 pc have roadmap

As per a report published by Bloomberg Media Studios in partnership with DBS, the largest bank in Southeast Asia, it was revealed that 85 per cent of medium-sized and 75 per cent of small companies think of ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) as a high priority, but only 37 per cent have a clear roadmap on how to achieve their goals. EU Adopts Rules Requiring Zero Emissions from New Cars by 2035 After Reaching Deal on e-fuels

The European Council announced that it has adopted a new regulation which includes a requirement for a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions from new cars and vans registered in the EU from 2035. It is a part of plan- “Fit for 55”, wherein the EU intends to reduce its GHG emissions by 55% by the year 2030. Read more

MSCI ESG downgrades puts onus on firms to ‘take control of evaluation’

MSCI has introduced changes in the methodology, which will lower ratings of most of ETFs. MSCI said removing the adjustment factor would mean a fund’s ESG ratings would be “based solely on the ESG scores of its underlying holdings”, while the decision to exclude swap-based funds comes as it “actively explores” methods to provide a rating for swap-based ETFs based on the underlying index.
