China Issues its First Sovereign Green Bonds
China’s Ministry of Finance (MOF) has launched its first-ever sovereign green bond, raising RMB 6 billion (USD $824 million) to fund projects that support key environmental goals such as climate change mitigation, adaptation, and biodiversity and resource conservation.
The green bonds, issued with 3- and 5-year maturities, were listed on the London Stock Exchange, marking not only China’s debut sovereign green bond, but also the first Chinese sovereign green bond to be listed on an international exchange. (Source: ESG Today)
