India marked a key milestone in its climate strategy with the inauguration of Prakriti 2026 and the launch of the Indian Carbon Market Portal during the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026. The conference, organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the Ministry of Power and Ministry of Environment, brought together global experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss carbon markets and green growth.
The portal, launched by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal along with other dignitaries, will serve as the central platform for implementing and managing India’s carbon market ecosystem. The government highlighted that initiatives such as the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme and expansion of renewable energy are helping build a transparent and credible carbon market, while encouraging businesses to view carbon markets as drivers of innovation, investment, and sustainable growth.
