Standard Chartered & Brazil's Acre State Sign 5-Year Amazon Carbon Credits Deal
Standard Chartered has entered into a 5-year agreement with Brazil’s Acre State to act as the exclusive global seller of jurisdictional forest carbon credits. The goal is to bring 5 million carbon credits to market by 2026, using high-integrity ART-TREES standards. This agreement supports the protection of the Amazon rainforest and commits 72% of the revenue directly to Indigenous and local communities to drive sustainable development. It is being seen as a model for how international finance can scale up credible forest-based carbon solutions.
