Aditya Birla Group has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Shell-owned Sprng Energy in a deal valued at around $1.8 billion (₹17,200 crore), marking one of India's largest renewable energy acquisitions. The transaction will significantly strengthen the group's clean energy portfolio and reinforce its long-term expansion strategy in the renewable energy sector.

The acquisition will add nearly 5 GW of renewable energy capacity to Aditya Birla Renewables, taking its total portfolio to approximately 9.3 GW. The deal is expected to support India's clean energy transition while positioning the Aditya Birla Group among the country's leading renewable energy developers and accelerating its contribution to India's net-zero and sustainable energy ambitions.
