The European Banking Authority (EBA) has released version 4.4 of its reporting and disclosure framework, introducing updated Pillar 3 requirements for environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks. Published on October 12, 2026, the technical package aims to help financial institutions comply with evolving regulatory standards while enhancing the consistency and transparency of banking disclosures. It also includes technical updates to support the implementation of IFRS 18 reporting requirements.
The revised framework updates ESG-related disclosures and introduces reporting requirements for equity exposures and aggregate exposures to shadow banking entities. It also incorporates the Data Point Model (DPM), validation rules and XBRL taxonomies to support accurate and consistent regulatory reporting. The EBA plans to launch a second phase in early 2027, focusing on further simplifying supervisory reporting and reducing the compliance burden on financial institutions.
