Singapore-based agritech startup Rize has raised $31 million in a Series B funding round to expand its platform for reducing emissions from rice cultivation, one of the world's most carbon-intensive crops. The funding will help the company strengthen traceability, promote sustainable farming practices, and expand operations across Southeast Asia, with India identified as a future market.
Rice cultivation contributes nearly 12% of global methane emissions, making it a major climate challenge. Rize plans to use the fresh capital to accelerate low-emission farming techniques, advance carbon certification, and grow its network to 150,000 farmers across 300,000 hectares by 2030, supporting both climate goals and improved farmer livelihoods.
