India is gaining increasing attention from global investors as improving returns and stronger environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards boost confidence in the country’s market. Fund managers at an investment industry event in Mumbai said India’s economic scale, growth outlook and regulatory progress are encouraging foreign investors to allocate more capital to the country.
Investors also highlighted that India is becoming a more reliable destination for long-term investments, supported by a growing pipeline of deals and stronger opportunities for exits through initial public offerings. However, some concerns remain, including currency volatility and capital gains taxes that can limit investment returns compared with other emerging markets.
