Schneider Electric Partners with Climeworks for Long-Term Carbon Removal

Schneider Electric has partnered with Climeworks to remove 31,000 tons of CO2 by 2039 using long-lasting carbon removal solutions. This is Schneider’s first investment in high-durability methods like Direct Air Capture, Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage, and Enhanced Rock Weathering, which can store carbon for thousands of years.

The deal supports Schneider’s goal of cutting 90% of its emissions by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050. Climeworks, known for its pioneering Direct Air Capture plants, also offers a range of carbon removal technologies through its Climeworks Solutions platform.

Alongside the purchase agreement, the two companies will collaborate to improve energy efficiency and lower costs of Direct Air Capture.
