Google has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with German utility EnBW to buy 100 MW of electricity from the under-construction He Dreiht offshore wind farm in the German North Sea. The agreement will supply renewable power to support Google’s data centres and AI infrastructure in Germany, aligning with the company’s goal of operating on 24/7 carbon-free energy by 2030.
Google stated that the long-term deal helps meet rising electricity demand driven by digital services and AI workloads, while accelerating the transition to a more sustainable power grid. EnBW noted that customised PPAs such as this reflect a broader shift toward large-scale clean energy solutions and play a key role in decarbonising both industrial and digital economies.
